Whether you are choosing a ring together or surprising her with a ring you've chosen to pop the question, getting the right ring size will save you time and effort.

If it's a surprise, you can try locating a ring she wears on the right ring finger to estimate the ring size of her left ring finger. If you are choosing together, there are a number of ways to get an accurate ring size measurement.

If you are able to drop into our store or visit a local jeweller, you can ask for your ring size to be measured using a set of ring sizers.

Alternatively you can purchase a ring sizing tool or measure yourself at home using one of two methods. Below are two ways to measure for ring size at home.

    Expert tip

Hands can change over time. Weight loss or gain, pregnancy or other physical or life events can have an impact on ring size. Sometimes a change in ring size is unavoidable. That's one of the reasons why a solitaire engagement ring makes a stunning choice - not only is a solitair a classic design, it's much easier to resize than more complex designs with diamond shoulders or intricate bands.

    Ring sizing - finger circumference

For this method you'll need a flexible measuring tape, or alternatively you can use a piece of string or thin strip of paper and a ruler.

    1. 1

Place the measuring tape around the finger you want to wear the new ring on to measure the circumference. Alternatively you can mark string or a strip of paper to the circumference of your finger, and measure that length against a ruler. Then refer to the circumference table in Step 2.

    2. 2

Use the circumference measured to find the correct ring size in the table above.

    Ring sizing - ring diameter

For this method you will need an existing ring that fits the finger the engagement ring will be worn on. You'll also need a ruler or a measuring tape.

    1. 1

Place the ring over the measuring tape or ruler. Measure across the widest distance between two points on the inside of the ring to record the diameter.

    2. 2

Use the diameter measured to find the correct ring size in the table above.

    Expert tip

The ring diameter method works best if the ring is a gift and you don't want to ask for the size. But makes sure you choose a ring that is worn on the same finger the new ring is for.
